Managing director Matt Gannan was absolutely thrilled to take the stage to pick up the award on behalf of the company.
"What a night, to be nominated for seven travel awards and pick up the grandest prize of all, Small Tour Operator of the Year, is just wonderful. It's a tremendous achievement and shows what a great dedicated team we have at Tucan Travel and how well we are perceived and appreciated by our clients and industry partners. The voters have spoken and we thank them for their support. It’s also great news that the importance of the adventure travel industry is recognised and we are extremely proud to receive this award against very stiff competition for the top slot. A big thank you to all our staff, this award is for all of them," Mr Gannan said.

This year we were nominated in the following categories:
- Small Tour Operator of the Year (<75k passengers)
- Best Special Interest/Adventure Tour Operator
- Best Activity/Sports Tour Operator
- Best Safari, Wildlife and Nature Tour Operators
- Best Middle East (Incl. Egypt) Tour Operator
- Best Short/Medium Haul Tour Operator (flights <7 hours)
- Best Long Haul Tour Operator (transatlantic and flights >7 hours)
Mr Gannan said he was very pleased the company was nominated in such a broad range of categories.
“Last year we received the silver award for Best Tour Operator to South and Central America, which was fantastic. Latin America is where our roots are so it was great to be recognised for the good work we’ve done in that region. I think the fact that we were in the running for seven gongs this year is a reflection of the friendly and productive relationship we’ve always had with our agents, as much as the positive feedback we’ve had from our clients over the years. It’s also a reflection of the range of tours that we offer worldwide, since we were nominated not only in the Middle East but also the safari categories,” Mr Gannan said.
