Japan: back on the rise
Japan: back on the rise
Nearly two months after Japan experienced the sudden devastation and destruction of the earthquake and subsequent tsunami, this otherwise fascinating nation is fortunately now on its way to recovering.
While a complete recovery, both physical and psychological, will undoubtedly take time, the return of tourism can go a long way in helping herald the emergence from devastation to normality. And the benefits are not solely financial.
Tucan Travel’s global general manager, Bec, has only just returned from her Japanese adventure and her overriding impression was one of people keen to welcome foreigners back to Japan.
“Everywhere we went people were genuinely delighted to see us there and were incredibly warm. You got the sense that above and beyond the tourist dollar – which is incredibly important for the country right now – our being there provided people with an important sense of normality, as well as a sense of solidarity, that the world wasn’t ignoring them in their plight,” Whiffin said.
Tucan Travel has several Japan adventure tours to choose from, ranging from one week in length to two, and that takes adventure travellers behind the veil of this ancient and fascinating culture. For more information, visit www.tucantravel.com
