| Fuel Surcharge on Antarctica Cruise | ||
| We are sure that you are aware of the dramatic fuel price increases covered by press, radio and television news almost on a daily basis. We have recently been notified by our supplier Antarpply Expeditions that the price of Marine Gasoil (MGO) has seen unprecedented highs and future price rises are uncertain. The actual fuel price this week in Ushuaia has more than doubled since we set our rates. Bunker suppliers in Ushuaia do not offer forward fuel contracts so we are unable to hedge against future fuel price increases. Our supplier Antarpply Expeditions will absorb one third of the costs and only pass US$60 per person per night for the ten nights of the voyage, onto passengers. This amount of US$600 needs to be paid in advance to your travel agent/ Tucan Travel in the currency that you booked in. The equivalent amounts are as follows: GBP 300, EUR 393, CHF 660, CAD 600, AUD 648, NZD 749. Tucan Travel will pass this on to the Antarctica supplier. The amount of US$600 has been confirmed for sailings in November and December 2008. With regards to the January, February and March 2009 voyages we will advise the amount of the fuel surcharge depending on the fuel price approximately 3 months prior to your voyage. Please note if you decide to cancel your Classic Antarctica voyage, our standard cancellation policy applies – please see the booking conditions in the brochure or on our website under 'How to Book' for further information. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. We hope that you will enjoy your adventure in Antarctica. |
