The volcanic activity of active volcano Tungurahua, near Baños in Ecuador, has increased this month. Travel advisory services such as the Foreign Commonwealth Office are alerting travellers to the activity and advising them to stay a minimum of 10 kilometres (6 miles) away from the area in all directions in case of an eruption. Ecuadorian authorities are continuing to prohibit all access to the volcano itself since its last eruption in February.
