Overview

Antarctica and the sub-Antarctic Islands are some of the last truly unspoilt regions of the world. The mysterious White Continent, with its multi-coloured ice caps, glistening glaciers and towering snow-capped mountains, offers unparalleled scenery and photographic opportunities. Enormous numbers of penguins, whales, seals and seabirds congregate in the nutrient-rich waters along the Antarctic and sub-Antarctic shores. This voyage aboard the M/V Professor Molchanov focuses on the search for the emperor penguin, the tallest and heaviest of all living penguin species, possibly the only bird never to set foot on land as it lives exclusively on the ice continent of Antarctica.

This is an Expedition Cruise. Learn about our Travel Styles.

M/V Professor Molchanov
Built in 1983 in Finland, the M/V Professor Molchanov is a modern and comfortable oceanographic research vessel which has been converted for passenger use. With an ice-strengthened hull and passive stabilisers it is able to smoothly navigate scenic areas where many other vessels cannot, making it ideally suited for expedition cruising.

Visit the M/V Professor Molchanov ship page for a full description and photos of the vessel
