Just Go Tours
Introduction and suitability
The emphasis of a Just Go Tour is strongly focused on the ‘being there’ rather than ‘how you get there’. As someone who just wants to get up and go, you are very much who we had in mind when creating this style.
As you will be travelling on either public transport or privately-hired vehicles, or a combination of both, you will need to be relatively flexible with regards to your transport needs. A Just Go Tour is about your being at a destination, as such you will also need to be accommodating about what to expect on tour.
Accommodation: Superior and Superior plus hotels
Superior hotels are generally the equivalent of a four-star hotel and Superior plus the equivalent to five-star hotel. They offer amenities such as cable television, swimming pools, restaurants, lifts, internet access, room service, hair dryers and English-speaking reception staff. Additionally, hotel rooms and facilities will have a more luxurious ambience and modern feel. A Superior hotel may also take the form of a cabin onboard Nile or Yangtze cruisers, which offer the same amenities you would expect from this standard of hotel.
Overnight transport
Overnight buses tend to offer reclining seats, regular toilet stops with snack stalls, and air-conditioning or ventilation. Overnight trains in Egypt generally feature reclining seats with air-conditioning or ventilation and Western or squat-style toilets, while in China they are predominately sleeper cars.
Please note facilities vary by destination and transport operator. In Egypt it may be possible to upgrade to a flat-sleeper bed with sheets in multi-share cabins or from the felucca to a river cruiser at your own expense and on certain tours.
Pre and post tour accommodation
Pre and post tour accommodation is available if you would like to spend more time exploring your joining and departure cities. It is best to book your pre and post tour accommodation at the same time you book your tour. Please contact us or speak to your travel consultant for more information.
Accommodation is included from 1pm on day 1 until checkout time on the morning the tour ends. If you wish to use the services of a room before or after checkout time, or you are arriving very early in the morning of day 1, you will need to book an extra night, which we can arrange for you. All rooms are on a bed-only basis unless otherwise indicated. There is an extra charge if you change your hotel or transfer reservations once booked or if you add a hotel/transfer reservation to your booking within one month of the tour departure date. Single supplements
Travellers wishing to have their own room are able to pay a single supplement. At certain times during the year the single supplement may be higher than the amount published in the brochure due to high season price increases. Please note that accommodation onboard the Nile cruiser is based on twin sharing therefore if there are an odd number of clients travelling in your party someone has to pay the single supplement. Transport
You can expect a variety of transport on tour that best allows you to get from one fascinating destination to the next. While the majority of long-distance travel will be on chartered coaches or public trains, you can expect anything from a camel ride to an outing in a four-wheel drive vehicle on our many excursions.
Excursions
Just Go Tours offer a variety of included excursions, such as visits to local markets, ancient ruins, temples, gardens, waterfalls and other natural and cultural highlights of your chosen destination. The entrance fees to these sights are not included giving you the choice of which ones you want to visit. You can also choose from a range of optional excursions which you can book locally with help from your tour leader, however the optional excursions to the Temple of Ramses II at Abu Simbel must be booked in advance of travel – you can find the full list on our website. Transfers
Airport transfers on arrival and departure are included in Just Go tours. It is very important that you provide your travel agent or Tucan Travel consultant of your flight details and arrival time to ensure you're met at the airport at the right time. If you would prefer to make your own way to and from your hotel, you can find details on public transport and taxis in the joining letter for your tour
Group size
There is no minimum or maximum group numbers on Just Go Tours, however an average group size is between 10 and 15 clients.
Please note: It is very possible that there will be other people on your tour that may have booked with a different company. Operators for Just Go Tours do not operate exclusively for Tucan Travel.
Staff
Just Go Tours in Egypt are fully escorted by local tour leaders with Egyptology training. Just Go Tours in China are accompanied by a tour leader provided there are six clients or more booked, at all other times you will be assisted in each destination by local guides and local representatives. All tour leaders, local guides and local representatives have an excellent command of English.
Meals
All breakfasts are included on Just Go Tours. In addition a number of lunches and dinners are included, in particular while felucca sailing, onboard the Nile cruiser and onboard the Yangtze cruise. The majority of other meals are not included in order that you can get out there and experience the best local cuisine on offer, according to your own tastes and budget.
