5 Instagram Travel Photography Tips

Hey there fellow adventurers.

This is a blog for all you guys and girls travelling around the world (and even those who don’t), to help get a little more from your Instagram account and editing your photos. These aren't set rules or anything, just friendly tips and an insight into how I edit/prepare and go about getting my images for Instagram. The main focus is on travel images, and I got plenty of those when I was on Tucan Travel's overland trip from Victoria Falls to Cape Town over...

International Happiness Day!

Today is international happiness day so to mark this, Tucan Travel have put together some of the places that we have travelled to that made us smile. :)

Laos

Kicking off the list is probably one of the happiest places I have ever visited. Although the small South East Asian country has a troubled past, the locals are the most genuine friendliest people I have ever met and you will always be greeted with a smile. It’s a peaceful country with French colonial...

Sunrise over the Namib Desert

One of our most travelled Tucan Travel team members shares her thoughts on her favourite place in Africa:

Working at Tucan Travel, I have been fortunate to see many countries but Namibia definitely has to be one of my favourites. It is packed full of wonderful things to see and do. One of the best places we visit on our journey from Victoria Falls to Cape Town along the Western coastline of Namibia is Sesriem.

After crossing the Tropic of Capricorn as we head South from Swakopmund,...

Serengeti & Ngorongoro Crater Safari

There is something very primal and exciting about setting off on safari. Seeing Mother Nature in its natural and comfortable environment, in its most pure and raw form; free from external influencing human factors. The animal kingdom – where every animal and everything for that matter knows its ranking and adapts to survive.

I have never been a big zoo person, I don’t get the same enjoyment factor most people seem to, and with air travel so...

Meet the people of Africa

[doptg id="11"]

Most people who visit Africa do so to safari and see the big five in their natural habitat. While elephants and rhinos are fascinating and watching lions and leopards laze out in the sun all day is mesmerising, it is the people in east and southern Africa with the stories to tell.

With ancient roots and often, peculiar traditions, there is so much to learn from every smiling face you meet. From way the Masai men are raised in to shepherds and warriors to the...

Entering the Masai Mara

The ground ran red as the rain mixed with the dust that had stained our feet only hours earlier forming a rich paste matching the Masai’s clothes. It was a bumpy ride to the Masai Mara, down dirt roads, littered with rocks and holes. Grazing lands rolled out, as far as the eye could see with herds of cattle and goats dotted across the horizon, tended to by the tall and graceful men, carrying their staffs.

The atmosphere in the van was electric. There was not much of a drive to go. Soon...

The beauty of the Masai Mara

Imagine that it is 6am, the Sun is just rising and your jeep is in the middle of the African Savannah. So many beautiful creatures surround you and this is the perfect time of day to see them.

Giraffes and zebra make their way to watering holes where they are joined by elephants, buffalo and even lions! Seeing a lion take a drink of the murky water while the nearby zebra herd remain on heightened alert is exhilerating and you feel so privileged to have seen such amazing creatures that...

What to pack for a Gorilla Trek

Gorilla Trek Packing List

The Gorilla Trek is something you will probably only do once so you want to make sure you get it right. Having just returned from my hike, I sat down and compiled the ultimate Gorilla Trek Packing List.  The Gorilla Trek is the ultimate adventure and complete privilege to complete. I loved every minute of my Gorilla Trek, a trip I did last month with Tucan Travel. I’m not going to lie, it wasn’t a breeze. It was hard. It was made tougher by the adverse weather conditions which we...
