Your CV will not be considered without the application form. Please also read the job description before submitting your application. Tucan Travel's expectation of all road crew is very high. Your behaviour, conduct, appearance and comments will be observed and judged by our clients, hoteliers, local operators and members of the public constantly.
Much of our business and advertising is achieved by word of mouth, and Tucan Travel road crew are the only representatives of the company that the majority of our clients will see. Our road crew act as a public advertisement for the company. It is very important to understand that the position of adventure travel tour leader / driver requires professional, self-motivated people.
You must be able to work unsupervised and offer our clients the holiday of a lifetime. Please do not apply if you are looking for a short term working holiday as we require a minimum commitment of 50 tour weeks which on average is about 18 months.

- You must send a recent CV with the completed Tour Leader Application Form
- Tour leader applicants for Latin America must be able to speak an intermediate level of Spanish
- You must be able to provide at least two recent references from previous places of employment and by doing so, give their consent for reference verification with these companies and other industry colleagues
- You must be able to attend an interview at one of our offices in London, Sydney or Cuzco upon arrangement
Preference will be given to:
- Tour leader applicants who are also licensed to drive coaches or overland vehicles
- Applicants who have previously travelled to any of the destinations we operate tours in and/or have participated in group travel
- Applicants with prior travel industry experience
- All applicants must be enthusiastic people with outstanding customer service skills
Please note, very important information
The successful applicants will be based permanently in the area of their contract and be required to complete a minimum of a 3-week unpaid training programme before full employment is offered. Tucan Travel will cover expenses such as included excursions, accommodation and transport during the training trip however visa expenses will not be covered.
Personal spending money, insurance and food during the training period will be the responsibility of the trainee unless otherwise arranged. Please note that the successful applicants will be responsible for all associated expenses in relocating to the destination of job offer to commence their training. However, Tucan Travel will reimburse an amount towards their flight costs after a set period of employment.

This is a great opportunity to relocate to a fascinating part of the world, to gain some fantastic travel experience and have a great adventure. We are proud own and operate the best expedition trucks in the industry. Our fleet is made up of modern, powerful Mercedes Benz Actros trucks, custom-built for passenger comfort and to handle the rugged terrain of South America.
You would be responsible general truck maintenance and also assisting the tour leader run a professional tour by working together as a team. You will have to display excellent communication and leadership skills. The contract is a minimum 18 month commitment and you would be based in South America or Africa for the duration of your contract. Selection criteria:
- All applicants must send a recent CV with the completed application form
- You must have a current PCV coach licence or Australian HR Licence or HGV (over 18 ton), along with an international driving permit (IDP)
- You must have a valid passport (over 6 months) with at least 20 free pages
- You must have experience in driving heavy vehicles/trucks
- You must be able to provide at least two recent references from previous places of employment and by doing so, give their consent for reference verification with these companies and other industry colleagues
- You must be a minimum age of 25 due to our Liability Insurance Policy
Preference will be given to:
- Applicants with good knowledge of mechanics and spare parts
- Applicants who are keen travellers, motivated and enthusiastic
- Applicants who have previously travelled to any of the destinations we operate tours in and/or have participated in group travel
- Applicants with prior travel industry experience
