Inca Trail Trek on Group Tours

Trekking the Inca Trail on Discovery Tours, Adventure Tours and Overland Expeditions
Tucan Travel offers more than 90 different group tours which offer the chance to hike the Inca Trail Trek. All group tours which include time to complete the Inca Trail Trek are easily identified by the 'Inca Trail Trek' icon found on the tour maps on this website and in our brochures. If there are no permits available for the Inca Trail Trail Trek or the trail is closed (i.e. in February) the Inca Trail Trek will be substituted for the Lares Trek.
If you choose NOT to do the Inca Trail Trek
If you do not want to complete either the Inca Trail Trek or Lares Trek, you MUST advise your travel consultant at the time of booking. In this case a discount will be taken from your tour price (see tour page) and a train/bus day excursion to Machu Picchu will be included instead.
Please note that after your place has been confirmed on either trek the discount will not apply if you do not complete the trek. Compulsory single supplements are applicable for the Lares Trek if you are the only person in your group who wants to take this option.
When booking your tour you will pay your tour deposit plus a non-refundable Inca Trail Trek deposit. This is not an extra payment and will be deducted from your final tour payment. See the tour page for the deposit amount. The deposit also applies if you will be completing the alternative Lares Trek. If you choose not to do either trek, you will not be charged the Inca Trail deposit and your tour price will be reduced.
If you prefer not to trek the Inca Trail you will have additional free time in Cuzco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire, where there is plenty to see and do. There are numerous museums, galleries and churches to visit, including magnificent examples of Spanish colonial architecture such as the Convent of Santa Clara, the Cathedral and the San Franciscan Monastery. The masterful Inca stonework of Qorikancha, almost but not-quite obscured by the Spanish church built on top of it, is a must-see. Your tour leader can also help you to organise optional day excursions to the Sacred Valley, the monumental ruins of Sacsayuaman and the Inca citadel at Pisac.
Please note: Due to Inca Trail permit restrictions, you MUST decide at the time of booking if you are going to hike the Inca Trail Trek so that there is plenty of time to organise your permit in advance. If the Inca Trail Trek is an included excursion on your tour and you choose not to participate, a discount will be deducted from your tour cost and you will have free time in Cuzco and a train trip to Machu Picchu will be included instead. The tour discount will not apply if you do not participate in the trek (or the alternative Lares Trek) after your place has been confirmed.
Trekking the Inca Trail on Budget Expeditions
All Budget Expeditions tours to Peru which visit Cuzco have enough time allocated to complete the Inca Trail Trek.
