Lares Trek on Group Tours

Discovery Tours, Adventure Tours and Overland Expeditions

Discovery Tours, Adventure Tours and Overland Expeditions which include time to complete the Lares Trek are indicated by the Inca Trail Trek icon on the tour map. This is because most people choose the Lares Trek as a quieter alternative to the more popular Inca Trail. As permits are not currently required for the Lares Trek we can generally guarantee your place on this excursion.

When booking your tour you will pay your tour deposit plus a non-refundable Lares Trek deposit. This is not an extra payment and will be deducted from your final tour payment. If you are the only person from your group tour that is doing this trek you will be required to pay a single supplement. Each client, until a minimum of four is booked to go, will have pay a supplement. The supplement is payable to your travel consultant at the time of booking and will be refunded in Cuzco if any additional group members join your trek.

The grid shows supplement prices per person depending on the number of people from the tour that wish to participate in the Lares Trek. If the number of clients booked on the trek increases after a client has paid a supplement, they will be reimbursed the difference. If four or more people on a tour book the Lares Trek then there is no supplement to be paid.

If you choose not to participate in either the Inca Trail Trek or Lares Trek, a discount will be taken from your tour cost and a train trip to Machu Picchu will be included instead. Please note the tour discount will not apply if you do not participate in either of the treks after your place has been confirmed. Due to time constraints it is not possible to do both the Inca Trail Trek and the Lares Trek on the same tour.

Budget Expeditions

All Budget Expeditions tours to Latin America which visit Cuzco in Peru have enough time allocated to complete the Lares Trek. This is an optional excursion with an additional cost, and can be booked through your tour leader at the time. The following prices apply to Budget Expeditions tours only as the Lares Trek is optional in this travel style.
